Fitting a type 9 end to a propshaft, but unfortunately it uses the wrong size UJ
Can anyone tell me the dia. of the hole the cap fits into?
Thanks

is it the size of the hole in the yoke that you need
I could get a measurement off mine tomorrow if you want. I think mine was the same size as the minor

Ahh sorry I havent been very clear... my type 9 yoke has much smaller holes than a minor one so the UJ wont go in, I want to open up the hole so the UJ will fit... To do that I need to know the dia. of the hole the UJ "cap" fits into on a standard minor...
I havent got anything accurate enough to measure more than "about xxx mm"

if the machining isn't spot on, the propshaft will run out! Also the circlips on a Minor UJ will keep the assembly concentric so they are just as important.

That's about 15/16" + 1.5 thou.

The Minor UJ is known as an 1140 series UJ. You can buy new a Ford Type 9 sleeve yoke (or diff flange) that takes an 1140 UJ, ie one that will go straight onto the Minor UJ.
I would not even think about maching it. Contact a propshaft place and get the bits to do the job properly.
Dunning and Fairbank sell the bits and will mail them to you.
