Now there's a very straightforward question for all of you. Hopefully!

What is the fluid of choice for a standard 1969 saloon?

Thanks

Hydraulic jack oil should do the trick.

Best to drain off the old nasty fluid - and refill. The thicker (more viscous) the fluid - the better the damping. Engine oil is fine - for standard damping you need SAE 20 oil - heavier oil (30 or 40) will improve the damping - do check the mounting bolts are tight - and if there are any leaks I'm afarid they won't 'heal up' ! Exchange dampers are required.
