MM Motorhome?

What was it? Whose is it?
We were driving up the A1 near Durham last Saturday morning when we saw what looked like a motorhome cabin tacked on top of an MM pickup coming down the other way. The vehicle was painted red and white and, unfortunately, as it was travelling South on the other carriageway, we couldn't get the numberplate. The cabin was several feet higher than the roof of the drivers area of the pick up. Anyone know anything of this vehicle.

It's the "Snail"! I think it started life as a pick-up and then had a small caravan "grafted" onto the back. It used to be in the Birmingham area and was then sold a few years ago. It was then painted grey/black and came to the National Rally (Scunthorpe) in 2006. I believe it was recently sold and now sports the red and white colours scheme. :D

It's amazing how much better the "proper" conversion (blue model) looks. There was more than one of those made, with a very fetching green one on show at Knebworth about 18 years ago.

That is the most wonderful Morris Minor I've ever seen - inspirational :-) Specially made to make all tent owners jealous!

Thanks for sharing that Dan

Thanks to everyone who replied. Just goes to show the power of MM owners over the net! I'll have to keep an eye open for this one in the future.
Image
