I think the big ends are knocking on my 1968 four door how much is the rough price for getting the crank reground and new shells ? can do the work myself i think :roll:

you can buy exchange cranks and shells £75.00

and it can be done , i mean putting in reground cranks, but it is an engine out job

You may get it done on your crank for slightly less - but £75 is a good budget price. You should put a nEW oil pump in - and check the oil filter is all complete and the spring and plate are present and correct - this plate (and/0r spring) is sometimes lost at oil-change time - resulting in no filtration and early ruination of the crankshaft! If the piston rings are past their best - this may be the time to consider new rings. You will also need gaskets obviously - and you should seriously consider fitting a new clutch plate and carboin thrust when the engine is out! There is always the chance of picking up a complete 'good' engine - and swapping that into the car of course!
