Would kindly like to know where the "taillight- sidelight" warning lamp is situated, I havent seen any in my mog??
Secondly how is the panel lamp light wired? the lamps seem to be connected by wire leading to nowhere???
Thanks

There is no tail/side light warning light, the instrument panel lights are lit when the side lights are switched on. On the Series MM / early SII a green light also illuminates the ignition key, but then there was no interior light. I think this light is the one refered to as the s/t warning light, no 41 on P. N22 workshop manual. This light is attached to the choke control and can be felt under the grill above the ignition switch. A matching light on the other side is the main beam warning light
The inst. panel lights are wired in to a small switch under the insrument panel just below the ignition switch. This panel light switch is in turn wired in to a bullet connector together with the wires from the side/tail lights, then to the light switch

thanks mike, so I have one wire missing at the panel bulbs. I'm not understanding exactly where these lights, s/t warning and head beam are. From your desc. they should be below the grille is it? would you happen to have a pic please? or am I asking too much now..lol..

Just feel up under the centre grill panel above the switches and you will feel them. If you can't feel them then they are missing. Switch main beam on and there should be a red light shining through a hole in the grill backing.
Feel along the panel under the ignition switch and you should feel a small sliding panel light switch.

Do these lights show underneath the grille, or only their reflected light can be seen ?
Are the light holders tied to the choke control and the starter pull cable respectively?
Mine are missing for sure...

Are these bulbs easy to clip back in? I was doing just that Mike "having a feel" behind the choke cable and ignition key, and as I pulled my hand back out I pulled with it a bulb with wires in a clip..... DOH! Could I find where it came from having another feel no

The light holders are held in place by the clamp nuts on the choke and starter knobs. The bulbs and their connectors push into the ends of the holders with the bulb on the inside of the tube. The right hand light shines a red main beam warning light through a hole in the grill backing card and the left light shines down on the ignition switch

The main beam warning light was not fitted before approx. mid '52.

Didn't realise these lights even existed until I read this. Just went to check under the grille and they're there but the blubs have blown.
Will have to buy some new bulbs and try them out

That is the bulb and holder for the ignition switch light. I think it is used as a junction for the side light wires.
The panel light switch can be seen next to the screw head in the top right of the photo

Thanks Dean, however it does not seem that this bulb is in it's right place is it? I think it need an earth with the body to light up, probably as mike said it was used elsewhere.
What I still need to know please is where it was originally fixed to and if it had any red filter on for red light projection

The ignition switch light should have a green filter and the main beam light should have a red filter. The unit in the photo fits inside the holder which earths through the choke knob clamp nut.

So how is this light fixed to the panel? is there a screw or just hanging with a piece of wire like in the pic?
And would you confirm that the warning lights are for main beam and side lights?

Mark, that bulb and clip was pushed into something, but I haven't tried to get my head behind to see where the thing came from. I am hoping it's as simple as Mike describes. Ignore the red wires in the picture, they are only holding the heater up to take the weight of the hoses.
