I've just been replacing the fuel pipe on our new convertible, as I didn't like the plastic fuel filter under the car by the tank(!). While I was at it, I moved the Fuel pump back to its correct place. It had been moved away from the battery box, and about 6 inches to the near side. I've been wondering why it was moved ever since we got the car.

I found out why once I'd put it back in the right place. Any one care to guess the reason?

I'll post the answer later.

With the fuel pump in the right place, the bonnet wouldn't shut!

The bonnet support strut was mounted upsid down, and hit the pump when you shut the bonnet. I would have thought it was easier to put the support the other way up!
