Hi Guys,
Just getting an old convertable back on the road after 5 years tucked up in the garage.
All bushes are perished, the question is how do i remove the eye bolt without removing the torsion bar?

You have to remove the front section of the lower suspension arm. With this gone you can tap the rear section back along the splines of the torsion bar. This acts as a sleeve to hold the adjacent parts of the eyebolt and torsion bar together. Be careful not to go to far or it will drop off the splines altogether and you will have an additional job of replacing it correctly. When it has gone back 20mm or so you should have enough give to rotate the eyebolt a bit and drop the torsion bar away.
With the eyebolt out check where it passes through the chassis leg for corrosion and/or distortion.

Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

If you have the car well supported you can pull the eye bolt out of the chassis. Wriggle it off the torsion bar, replace bushes, then let it rest against the chassis and tap it backwards into the hole with a piece of wood.
It may not be the book way but it works
If you want to remove the lower arm I'd measure its resting position too as Tippex has a way of getting scraped off
