mine is being mot'd next wednesday on the basis the welding is done.

I cant see any other reason that it would fail but if it does i will just fix the offending parts.

Me too. Just collected my much-welded Traveller on Friday night. :D
Cost more than I've spent on it over the last 5 years I'd guess. :(

It felt very different from the Sprite I've been driving for the last two months, so much quieter and I don't lose fillings every time I hit a pot-hole! Somewhat more sedate too, but it's nice to have a 4-seater with a proper roof again.

Sorry to hear that James - at least it's all repairable! If you have any problems/need moral support just ask! we're all in the same boat!

Thanks regaliaqueen.

I knew about the rust and top trunnion but not about the brake hose or shock absorber.

The front tyres were likely to be 20-25 years old lol.

Once bluey is repaired we will use him more often.

Its a massive hit in the wallet

Matt i wish you the best of luck sometimes mot testers see classic and vintage cars as right where shall i start failing it.

Personally i never take the car the a garage that has mechanics and mot testers my own age because i know that 99% will know nothing about even the car there parents had when they were little.

The garages around here are pretty good (other than time keeping, it was meant to be done over 2 hrs ago). Have used this one on and off for about 5 years and he drives a midget and an MGB.

There was one I went too in london, as a quick bodge I welded (without shielding gas) computer case over the sills and took it in. They missed all the holes in the bodywork, you could see carpet through the rear aches, a spring hanger was gone too etc etc.... but picked me up on iffy indicators and a loose halfshaft (marina axle, so I just did the nut up a bit)... they all vary in quality :s
