Steering wheel nut

Post by old.bodger »

Sorry need to undo the steering wheel nut to get the indicator switch out (short somewhere) ! Conflicting sizes mentioned in various places - 3/4 Whitworth or 33 mm - as I have to buy the deep socket I would like to get it right......maybe they are so close either will do!

Thanks

Doesn't need deep socket - the largest from my set fits fine.
But - most would simply loosen the nut by applying a chisel to a corner - and a tap with a hammer will have it loose in seconds! You may well find the nut already bears the scars!!

I haven't got a 33mm socket so it must be 3/4 whit. An ordinary socket with an extension bar will do. You may have to loosen it by wiggling or knocking the rim from behind so keep your face clear as it can come off suddenly

Thanks for the wisdom! I saw that damage to the nut and it never dawned on me! In fact I was muttering that it was going to make getting a socket on it more difficult.
Thanks again
