Change to LHD

Hi Again I am doing lots of research at the moment prior to my purchase.
How easy is it to change a Moggy to Left Hand Drive and what parts are required.

Steering rack change + move all the pedals and brake master cylinder over + move clutch actuation in the gearbox to the left (needs special LH front plate on gearbox). And change headlights to RH dip !

Thanks for the info just as I thought apart fron the clutch mods. Wonder if these plates are easy to get.

havnt bought the car yet still looking for the right one but trying to get prepared for the changover to register and use in France as my daily transport.

This is what that plate looks like for a 1098cc, the one for the 948cc is different and appears to be sold out at present. There is also a possibility to use a hydraulic clutch which is worth some research as it might save you having to take out the gearbox.

Note they also sell the necessary LHD clutch pedal with shaft. Neither part is inexpensive ! Would be MUCH better to source a scrap LHD car - and have the parts from that!

Stewart,
Why do you want to convert to LHD? Is it a Froggystani regulation, an insurance loading problem or just peace of mind?
I drive here in Germany with the RHD and there is no real problem, just with overtaking, when I don't have a passenger to assist pulling out. The options are however limited as to what I can overtake!
Eg. Wares offer a conversion for 600+ GBP and I'm sure many others do too. If you can tackle it yourself then OK.
I only use the Moggy on minor roads so I honestly don't think it's worth the hassle. It's up to you though!

Hi Declan

Have a RHD Frogeye and as you say it is no great problem but we are long term in France and as I could do the work myself I was just curious certainly no urgency as I dont have a car yet, and could collect the parts over a period of time.
The speedo and lights are more urgent.
