Sorry, can't help you with that one. I do know that the gearbox is heavier than an A series box as the A series casing is alloy and th MM box is cast iron. The engine is probably a similar weight.
If you have to put them on scales to find out the weight please let me know.

Sounds like a job for the bathroom scales - when the Missus is out!

i can tell you that an engine and box is easily lifted by 2 guys, or just one strong one

Oh dear, such a shame not one member can't help Tim out and at the same time salvage this poor rare car.

Its just one of those strange questions that asn't been asked before. It just needs someone with a spare s/v engine and gearbox and some heavy duty scales. It is not quite the same thing as nipping along to the local post office to have a parcel weighed.

No Mike, you missed my point. Tim can't hang onto the car any longer due to financial and family reasons, hence the breaking. I looked into taking it off him, but the transport and storage costs killed it for me to do it. Seems a shame as many people look for projects on here and there is no -one who wants a rare original 4 door Side Valve MM to restore. Tim would prefer to get rid of it whole.

A complete Mini engine/box/transmission casing (including diff etc) etc weights ~ 3 cwt. So - I would guess = -allowing for the cast iron gearbox casing - it will be close to that figure.

I missed the advert in the for sale section. Must keep a more careful eye on that section.
Tim, could you please PM me the chassis no. so that I can add it to the register.
