He tells me its a bargain! I've no plans to do this and no equipment either but you never know. Perhaps I'll do a bit at a time with a paintbrush

5 litres paint, 5 litres thinners and 3 litres of primer for less than £40 quid! Did you leave the skin on his hands?

He did sound a little upset and I ended up feeling a bit guilty. Didn't think it wise to ask him to respray for me as well

That is cheap... I've just paid £27+vat per litre for my high quality celullose alone!

High build cellulose primer filler is about a tenner a litre, probably the same for the thinners.

Yes - that's the lot I ppointed out earlier on the '2 pack' thread. Tartan red is a great colour - and that's a great buy, provided you like RED!

I think it will look stunning if the finish is like this picture

I was involved in the painting of a Tartan Mini many years ago - for a rallying friend who had sponsorship from a tartan firm! Sadly I have no pictures.

Tarten is quite easy to spray. It's properly cleaning the woolen fibres out of the spraygun that is the difficult part.

I thought you might reply to that one! Wish I was nearer as I'd love to commission you to do the same to the pickup :)

Oh no - I didn't do it - I just sprayed the basic colour and then it went off to a coachbuilder - provided and paid for by the sponsor - to have many stripes of different colour applied.

Ah well - I'd settle for the basic colour :D I'll keep it in the garage for now - the preparation is obviously the real labour intensive bit and I've no idea if I could do that myself. Maybe I'l win the lottery ..................... better start buying a ticket

Did try a search for 'Tartan Mini' - lots of nice pictures - none of them anything to do with a Mini car!!!!!!!!!
