how to remove the piece of metal from around the windscreen

i was wondering how to remove the piece of metal from around the windscreen cause i dont want a plastic one. i got a new seal, because the other one leaked so i just now need to know how to remove it without breaking it so i can re use it.

Hi Tom

I think that you leave it in until the screen and glass is out as one piece. You then take the rubber off the screen and can then remove the trim and fit in your new rubber using a piece of string/cord after fitting round the glass and before refitting the whole thing in the car openong using another piece of cord.

It is described in the manual section R23 assuming it is a morris 1000.

You need the correct seal to fit the old metal trims into - The modern seals only take the plastic trims....
