Have you got the correct manifold for an HS4 and will it clamp to the exhaust down pipe?

Iam using the oselli torquemaster inlet manifold.
There is nothing connecting to the downpipe

An ABP needle was used on some 1100 Minis so would seem to be a reasonable one to use on the Minor.
Having checked that the piston needle is flush with the bottom of the piston and the piston is dropping with an audible clunk onto the bridge, proceed as follows:-
1. Warm the engine up to normal operating temp. and switch off.
2. Mark one flat on the mixture adjusting nut with tipex so you can keep track of your adjustments.
3. Unscrew the choke fast idle screw so that it is clear of the cam
4. Screw the mixture adjusting nut fully up then screw it downwards 2 complete turns or 12 flats. That will give you a starting point
5. Run the engine again and adjust the tickover screw to give a slow idle speed
6. Turn the mixture nut a flat at a time up or down to give the fastest/smoothest tickover.
7. Adjust the tickover screw to give the correct idle speed
8. Adjust the choke fast idle screw so that it is just touching the cam.

What needle is in the carb at the moment ? It may well be satisfactory. Obviously - you need to get the carb on the manifold, and the manifolds on the car and all connected up! Are you at that stage yet ?
