When working over the back of the engine bay at times I tend to lean on the battery, but, on this occasion I smelt a funny smell - and my arm got hot!
Without realising I had leaned on the choke cable coming from the bulkhead, which was now sandwiched between my arm and the battery positive terminal, in no time at all the pressure had pierced the choke outer covering allowing the 'earthed' cable outer to complete the circuit - Ouch!
No permanent damage was caused other than the cable outer which had a section of covering burnt off!
I shall replace the covering and fit an insulator to cover the positive terminal, and be more carefull!
Wow!, my arm got hot!
