Van seats versus sedan seats -- the difference?

I have learned from a recent post by Alex Holden (thanks Alex) that van seats, although looking exactly like sedan seats without side-by-side comparison, are indeed different.
It seems that the rear 'legs' of the van seats are shorter, owing to the fact that the van floor is flat where they rest, as opposed to the downward-sloping floor where they rest in a sedan. (Does that make sense?)
Anyway, I have a request. I am wanting to buy some original van seats for my van, which came with non-Moggy seats that are a very poor fit. Now that I know that there is a difference, I want to be sure that I don't inadvertently buy sedan seats. How will I know the difference when I have a pair in front of me?
So can someone please give me a dimension or two I can use to distinguish van seats from sedan seats. I suppose the distance from the rear-most edge of the base to the floor would be the key measurement. (I don't have access to either type as a reference).
Does it make a difference what year of van it is? The one I am getting the seats for is a '68 Austin.
Thanks in anticipation...
