Hi All
Just put a new Head Gasket on, started her up but when she gets warm I get oil running into the Manifold and down into the Exaust, the Head nuts are were tightened down to 40lb and then I tightened them to about 44lb but still having the same trouble, has anyone got any ideas.
Thanks Bob

hi bob, if its running into the manifold then it might just be above it, which means it can only be the rocker cover me thinks? did you put a new gasket on it and seal it to the rocker cover? i didn't and it leaked a lot until i realised! worth a check to make sure it's not just leaking from there...

It doesn't seem to be coming from the rocker cover it seems to be getting in through the cylinder head somewhere it comes out through the exaust outlets at the side of the head. thanks anyway.

Hmm - hard to imagine how. Are you running the engine with no exhaust manifold fitted ? Otherwise - how do you know oil is getting in to the exhaust 'outlets' - as you call them ! Sure it's not just oily hands mess burning off the manifold ?

Hi Roy you can see it when you take the manifold off it even shows on the connection between the exaust and manifold, if you look at the joint between the manifold and the exaust you can see it running down the exaust when the engine is running, it just runs into the manifold

Difficult to know what this could be ! It's not just a little oil running down the exhaust valve guides ? Did you fit seals to the guides (late type top-hat seals) or to the valve stems (early type O ring seals). If it's a major leak - then the only source of oil to the head is through the little oilway at the front, and v difficult to see how this oil could make it's way to the exhaust ports. Only other way is a major crack in the head - but this would surely allow water to run just about everywhere, so I can't see it being that!

ok thanks Roy , I fitted new oil seals to the valve stems, its like the oil is getting under the head gasket and onto the pistons
