I want to get an mot on this van, it has not got the rear panels fitted yet, but the rear lights are rigged up, the fuel filler will be there and front doors, I'll also be covering any sharp edges, do you thing it would be accepted by the mot people in this state?

Shouldn't be a problem. I had one tested with no rear body at all once, just the lights attached to a piece of wood zip tied on the rear chassis crossmember. (The newly rebuilt pickup body still had wet paint on it and it was something to do whilst it dried!). I did cheekily ask if the test would be half price, as I'd only brough half of it, but didn't get too far with that one
Seem to remember that it drove horribly with no weight on the back axle - the back wheels just bounced off the road at every bump...

Thanks Ian, thats encouraging. As the rear may take me some time to finish, I want to get the vehicle class registered as 'historic' before any changes might happen, and to do so it needs to be mot'd.
I had wondered about the absence of a rear panel behind the seats.

As long as you have seat belts. It's a convertible, nobody said it had to have a removable roof!

It was quite unnerving having a whirling propshaft in view just behind the seats and handbrake but they didn't seem bothered by that, so yours with the floor in should be fine.
I was working onthe theory that you could buy a new road legal chassis cab, with a couple of tempoary wings over the back wheels and lights on, and drive it away, so if it was legal to do that then, it should be now. Ok I didn't bother with the wings, but they could see that it was work in progress so weren't concerned...

If you need the loan of a p-u cab back panel, I have loads

why not take the photo to the mot centre and ask,they would also be prewarned so not so much of a shock to their system Can't think of anything to prevent an mot on it.

Thanks Andrew, I had considered a pick-up back temporarily but will try without first..It's a kind offer .
Mind you, the way things are going, the front doors will be holding me up, they need plenty of sorting.
Might just do as you say Kennet, sounds the best option.
