well the engine isnt going yet due to obvious reasons but heres where i am at currently. Its a datsun a15 engine which isnt standard anymore. those carbys are feeding through some humongous ports into the engine. unsure what cam is in it but it seems to do the job well. datsun 60a 5-speed and datsun sunny diff to cope with the punishment.

Easy looking install - and I like the method for arranging the engine mounts! Well done.

they are borrowed from a ford escort, suit the job perfectly. right height and angle.

the brits dont have datsuns/nissans to steal engines out of aye?

All the old Datsuns have long since rusted away. Nissans are built in UK - about the only car that IS still built in UK !

that would make the engines easier to get, just give the car a kick and take the engine away! no mucking around

the plan is to keep this car as a sleeper, have standard looking rims but with some proper rubber, everything looking like normal. Im gunna love blasting people off at the lights though! I might turn into a, what we call here, boy-racer!

just a little off topic, do you think its very beneficial to have a front sway bar? im definetely getting telescopics on the front. It has a sway bar already but with the way the guy did it, it would struggle to pass the inspection for modified cars.

Rear telescopics are a must and ill get new springs from bullmotif if i can (not looking forward to the shipping fee to NZ!) and then if that isnt sufficient to keep the axle from tramping then ill put in a link bar.

Do the morrys suffer from tramp when new springs are fitted?

7 leaf Traveller springs pretty much eliminate any tramp. If buying springs anyway - may be worth considering. Tramp bars etc etc can certainly be added - JLH had some pictures of their set-up on a thread just recently. Looked great!

you reckon they would, even with about 110hp? its not going to be doing burnouts or anything silly like that but i dont want it to tramp from a quick take-off

They will help -and stiffen the rear end nicely. For that power you should be thinking different axle anyway - the standard Minor half shafts won't like that at all!

I did mention in the first post that i was using the datsun sunny rear axle.

Ahh - sorry - and will it take the Minor springs ok ?

it will once i put minor spring plates onto it, at the moment the sunny axle is a 4-link setup with coil springs.
