Is it worth replacing all bits at each service?

Hi,
I do about 2-3000 miles per year and one service per year. Is it worth replacing the whole service kit each time (spark plugs, points, air filter, etc), or just the minimum required by the service schedule?

I would say go by the service schedule
but check rubber seals and hoses more frequent as you do not do a lot of mileage
i do about 7500 to 10000 miles ayear in mine

Just do oil and filter! Plugs/points/ etc - check them/clean them - but at your mileage rate they should last ~ 5 years ! Worth checking the valve gaps each year -and clean the fuel pump points!

Well as the service kits are under £20 its not exactly a great expense, also if the car is running fine prior to the service keep the old plugs points etc as known good working spares.

Buts most owners just bin them which is a waste of good parts and its surprising how many you give away to others who are not so clued up.

Yes - but it's the 'risk' of disturbing an otherwise perfectly running engine to fit new parts when the old still have plenty of life in them - that's what I don't agree with.

Isn't it a waste of money replacing parts that don't need replacing? Maybe it would be better to inspect old parts to see if they need replacing. Unless you're rich of course!

it all depends on the milage you do .i change oil oil filter plugs air filter.once a year.then every quater i grease the suspension it swivel arms ujs etc.also the battery electrolite leval,check the fuel filter.oil and waterleval every week or before a long journey and tyre pressures.this is not gospel,you will learn as you go along whats important,and what can be used again.plugs should go for 12000 miles.
