Disposal of welding gas canisters

Hi there

Had big clearout of garage and attic this morning and took stuff down to the dump or... as it is now known, the "household recycling centre". They were not willing to take my empty SIP disposable welding canisters. Has anyone else had that problem? Wherelse can they be disposed of? It's the first time I've had problems.

Thanks

Ask SIP ? The place that sells you the full cylinders should probably take back the old ones. Any stuff like that just goes in the middle of my black bin !

I asked at my local dump and they were happy for me to put them in the metals skip.

as long as they're not pressurised there should be no problem putting them in as scrap steel. Try removing the valves if they aren't happy.
