Hi,

Can please someone tell me the diference (if one exists, obviously!) between MM seat frames and Series II ones and when did those changes occur?

The Series II seat frame has a metal plate base and the Series MM has a spring base. The Series MM seat has broad horizontal pleating, the Series II has narrow vertical pleating.
The Series MM seat continued in the early Series II until Nov /Dec 53 according to "Original Morris Minor"

Hi I have a jan 53 sidevalve that has series II style chassis plate with the correct chassis no the same as the bodyshell and the sidevalve engine no as on the engine and the front seat has a metal seat base. As has been said in the past the series MM and the series II were assembled possibly side by side at the change over and as parts for the series MM ran out maybe the series II parts were used, so some series MM can have series II parts except the sidevalve engine fitted as then it would not be a series MM but a series II

so what way do the panels run on the back seat of mm,horizontal or verticle ? my rear seat runs verticle but may be wrong seat fitted .thanx

Hi,

Finding out exactly the original combination of frames, seat design patterns as well as some other details may prove harder than it seams, for cars built in '53 and early '54...

It appers that two factors contribute to this overlaping: the fact that MM's and Series II were assembled simultaniously for a while and that some of the changes brought about by the October '54 re-styling were, in fact, implementes a bit earlier.

This means that this cars are a hybrid of sorts between a "pure" MM and a a pure Series II!

My car was registered on the 10th of February 1954, which means it was amongst the first ones to recieve the "new" seat cover design.
