Series II or 1000 ?

Hello all,

Just a quick question (i think i know the answer to.... :o ) ....

My beautiful Minor was first registered 29/03/1956 - and from what i have read the Minor 1000 was brought in in 1956 - October ? Is this right and mean my girl is a Series II minor, and by all accounts one of the last made i guess?

Thanks in advance :D

Hannah

An easy way to get an idea is the cosmetics. :D

A series 2 should have a 2 piece split windscreen.
The 1000 should have a single piece windscreen.

The 1000 will also have the 948cc engine rather than the Series 2s 803cc motor. (Although your Minor could have been upgraded)

Hi Captain 70s,

Thanks for the info - she's got a split windscreen - so i guess that answers that one (!) - engine has been upgraded from a 803cc to 1098cc by the previous owner which is good news for me i guess ! :)

Nope, picked up Flossie on ebay just over a year ago - i try not to look on ebay too much now as i clearly lack self control where minors are concerned, and rather fancy a traveller to add to my fleet. don't seem to be too many Series II about this way.

Have tried to upload a piccie but "computer says no" for now so will try again - should get her back this week after an MOT retest, a bit of welding and shiny new paint job - ah the joys :D

Hee hee
Trying again with the photo of Flossie - pre spray job - she is now Old English White - i know i know not a colour befitting her exact age but the "Cream" from her era i thought a little yellowy and she said she didn't mind having OEW instead (she's good like that).
Image
I wish ! Photo looks better than the reality. Previous owners had oversprayed and oversprayed without properly rubbing down and it was cracked and really pitted on the roof. not a total disaster but i thought she deserved to look at her most beautiful :D

Back tomorrow after 7 months of my mechanic saying "that'll be next week mate"

He had her in sept to do the brakes and then i had her back for abit then had problems with her cutting out - then he had her back, and the electrics were a little dodgy (was only when i parked up at a garage near a police station and noticed i had half a headlight and one rear light working - :o ) ! So he said he might as well hang onto her to do electrics - then he said he'd get the respray done - some welding here and there on sills, door and boot were needed aswell, plus ALOT of prep work before the spray. He said he'd use her as a filler so not been working on her nonstop - good news as it should be cheaper for me, but very sad to have lost her for soooooo long

Needless to say in the future i am a) going to become professional mechanic lol or b) send her to someone who will work on her a bit more swiftly. haven't had the bill yet but am assured it's not too bad :)

Does this mean that Flossie is Old English White with grey blue interior? If so same colour scheme as my Snowdrop :D . Good look with that bill...

 Hee hee Dan_Harris - Will try and check for teeth sucking when he drops her off today. He is a friend of the family aswell so hoping he won't rob me - especially as he's had her so long. i never want to let her out of my sight again !

She has red seats (not bright red) with cream piping - curved at the top - bit like old cinema seats i think! I am going to need a major clean up on the seats and finish off the interior paint transformation myself. Ironically the seats from the 1st minor i had (bridget) are pretty good (pale green) but are far too modern for her and wouldn't go with the red carpet. god i am such a girl

Snowdrop is a most excellent name pao7psb.

:D

She's back and looking BEAUTIFUL :D

Bill (which funnily enough he has left in the car all ready for me - quick enough to do that one  ) is £878 - electrics, strip down and prep then spray, mot and welding plus few extra bits needed. pretty good really although I rather fancy to say "oh bill, right, that'll be next week mate"

Just one question to those in the know - she needs 2 side bonnet badges befitting her age. I have the morris minor 1000 ones from Percy (god bless him) but obviously she is a Series II. Checked out the usual sites, but they seem to be quite hard to come by.

Piccies up soon, once i have been out for a drive and done further buffing :P

Thanks Hannah, name was picked because of her colour, the fact that I couldn't pick her up the weekend I had originally intended to because of the severe snow that we had in February, we all know that Moggies come out in Spring, and being a non-original spec she is as unique as a Snow...er...flake (close enough).

Sounds like you had a major result with that bill :D
