Original steering wheel returns!

Many (many) years ago I replaced the original steering wheel and shaft with a later one (1957) so that I could have the facility of an indicator on the column, this has worked well since but upon stumbling across the original in the loft I thought it might be nice to return the original to use.
The Series MM shaft is larger in diameter and longer than the later version which meant I had to modify the felt bushes in the column bracket and make a new hooter slip ring, which is now further down the shaft (the hooter is now the original horn push plus the indicator stalk from the later bracket)
This all went together fine except that the back of the original steering wheel was some distance from the top of the later column, which meant that the shaft could be seen. The bracket could not be moved up any more as the indicator stalk would be too close to the (undished) original wheel. A piece of aluminium was turned up and pressed into the rear of the original wheel to extend the boss.
I am quite pleased with how it has turned out, see what you think!

That is a very, very nice job! I hope that my dash on my 51 will look that nice when I'm done....maybe in 2010!

Is your Morris Mist Green with green interior? Beautiful car!! Any chance for more pictures for encouragement?

Cheers,

Steve

Mike, I am sure we will bump into each other (not literally!) somewhere, sometime!
Steve, my car is finished in Empire Green with green upholstery. I think the Minor in this colour is my favourite with plenty of 'depth' to it.

You are going to bump into Mike 5 times?

If I didn't know better I'd think that was factory finish......

Sorry about the above posts guys!
I am doing this on a iPAC hand held computer and just showing the wife the photos, only every time I came back to the site, it entered it again, and again, and again (and so on!)
