Pure water

Hi

One for you chemists out there.

As I understand it BRITA use and ion exchange process to filter water resulting in sodium being 'deposited' in your glass of water.

I don't fancy increasing my intake of sodium and I drink a lot of water.

Bottled water is considered, by some, as totally unreliable on the purity stakes.

Just wondered if anyone had a [low cost] idea of how to get the best drinking water.

Looking at this website:

http://www.aquasanaeurope.com/products.html

and wondering if anyone had any experience of similar.

Thanks

I drink the stuff that comes out of the tap and I am still breathing - hang on, just checking. I use filtered water in the kettle because it removes the limescale and stops the kettle furring up.

HA-HA-HA...Try that in Essex!
Doesn't make a blind bit of difference to our rock-hard water, but it does strip the chlorine out.
Just bought ANOTHER new kettle, and they stamped the guarantee card saying not applicable to limescale damage!
Not worth buying a decent kettle as they furr up the same, and the descaler eats the plating off after a while. Gone are the days of replacement elements!

What's wrong with the stuff out of the tap? Ours is hard water and tastes great.

My water's dead hard too. It's fine but I prefer the taste once it's been filtered though.

Squiggle, I really wouldn't worry about the amount of sodium that a filter might add. You'd taste it if there was any more than a tiny amount.

You're quite right to avoid bottled water, it's not as pure as tap water and frequently costs as much as petrol per litre!

The folks with 'hard' water are lucky - it's v beneficial for cutting down heart problems! I just drink good old Scottish water - sometimes with added cryptosporidium of course!

Sitty pretty here with beautiful soft Welsh water - tastes the same as the streams around Elan Valley where it comes from - I've checked

We don't even use salt in the dishwasher not needed!
(ducks to avoid objects coming my way!)

If you live in a hard water area do not use it in your Mog's cooling system as the crystals of lime shorten the life of water pump seals. It's best to use water from dehumidifier or if you are really posh de-ionised.

What is it tested for Dale?

Thanks for all the responses.

It probably sounds totally neurotic to even create this thread. But there are so many unexplained viruses around, I think some things we ingest might be worth an little look at.

I've been aware, for some time, that crop spraying seems to be causing respiratory irritation in many people in the village. particularly children. My GP acknowledges it.

Finally it is being addressed. The USA have no spray zones around residential areas.

I don't think these things necessarily kill us off........"I'm still alive and kicking" principal.

I just wonder about quality of health. I wonder how many folk can say I have felt really well for years.

I feel it is easy to accept just another bug etc.

I realise this is potentially far more complex and need to jump down off my soap box eh?

Looking forward to a bottle of DaleSpringWater :)

OK I'm 37 so probably do not come into the same category as some on here. I find for good health the gym suits me, it's good for exercising the heart and good for the respiratory tract (gets all the goo out the lungs and recovers them), much better than any water. ;)

How come that water that is advertised as taking thousands of years to filter through the rocks has a use by date when its in a bottle?
