Fancy being a castaway?

A few years ago i was involved in a 5 day trip to an island in poole harbour whwere we had to build and live in a shelter for the duration. We learned survival tips and we ate 'strange food' ( we are talking bugs here
)

I have some rater odd views about meat. If you aren't prepared/capable of killing and preparing it you shouldn't be eating it.
Its too damned easy to see it in styrofoam packets and not actually twig where its from...

Dan, I'm the same, funnily enough - I'm not squeamish at all, but because I lack the facilities to hunt/fish/raise my own meat animals, don't eat the crud for sale at the supermarkets. Now, if I went small game shooting or fishing, I'd quite happily skin, gut and cook it all myself.
And just for the record, I am trying to teach myself taxidermy. That is where the skinning comes in. The bottom drawer of my freezer currently contains a blackbird fledgling (cat kill), a stoatsicle (skinned, donated by another taxidermist) and a mousecicle (cat kill again, skinned). I've tanned the skins (so blinking tiny!) and am keeping the bodies to pose how I want them to look when I get round to carving the foam mannequins for them.
Probably more information than anyone needed to know, really!
Suffice to say, I need a second freezer quite urgently.
