Hi
I’m afraid I’m no expert but I’m learning as I go along, however I can’t work this one out so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Right then, it’s been an problem for a few months now, which I thought had been fixed. The car will sit and idle no problem for as long as I leave it, and has no problem going around town at low revs, but when I put my foot down either speeding up or to increase the revs going up a hill the engine seems to not be getting enough fuel so starts cutting out. It’s been in to the mechanics six months ago, the filter was replaced and he stripped and cleaned the carb which had a lot of muck in it. This seemed to cure the problem for a while, but it has started again. The filter looks to be clean (still looks like new as the car hasn’t done many miles) so I tried another suggestion which was the air inlet for the tank enabling the pressure to equalise. I believe this is the small holes in the inner part of the petrol cap. Anyway that is clear. Could the problem be electrical? I didn’t want to go messing around until I had another opinion. I would take it straight back to the mechanic, but he’s on holiday and I could do with the car. Anyway thanks.

Fuel problem (I think)!
