front chassis crossmember

Hi everybody

I'm a bit confused. I have just welded in my new chassis leg repairs (more or less) and am about to fit the front chassis cross-member. Happily the lower section is an absolute perfect fit with the chassis legs (I was worried about that but it is mm perfect). However, the top cross plate seems slightly too short on one side (see pics).

Has anyone else found the same? Is the replacement panel just incorrectly measured and cut?

Eveline, if you are reading this, how does it compare to the car you're getting restored at espresso speed?!

many thanks

Knowing the quality of replacement panels I suspect thats the cause of your problem.

Its not a sri-lankan one is it?

I have recently fitted one and it butted up perfectly on both sides. I suspect it is a poor quality replacement  Unfortunately this is becoming all too common. I would get on the supplier you got it from and ask for another replacement, or a refund.

Are the new chassis legs parallel ?

Yes completely parallel and as I said, the lower panel fits absolutely perfectly

Yes I've just done one where the top panel was too short. Annoying really. As you say the bottom fits 100% and the legs are parallel and the measurements across the diagonals match its just the top bit is too short.
I welded a little strip in....
