I am in the process of trying and rebuilding a door handle for a van I need to remove the barrel but can't see how has anybody done it? once I was told I need to remove a pin, where is it? is this the on in the pic? and do you push it in or pull out?

Hi, lucky for you I appear to be the world expert on such matters.... I bought a brand new door handle for my van and promptly lost the keys durrr..... So I too bought a new barrel. Removing the old barrel is fiddly, allow a morning for this. First you need to remove the door handle from the door which as I recall involves removing the window surround, yawn, I told you it was fiddly. Once you have the handle removed you will need to dismantle it to get at the pin which holds the barrel in place. The pics should help one shows the handle with pin removed the other shows the barrel overlayed on the handle which shows how it is held by the pin. You need a specialised tool to remove the pin or you can just use a rusty nail like I did. After I removed the old barrel I found the new one didnt fit so I bought a complete new handle and went down the pub! Hope this helps <br><br><br><br>
