Hi All
While fitting new points I thought I would clean the Oil Pressure relief valve and it says the Hexogen nut is 9/16, it says it in all the manuals and even the one I downloaded but the nut on my engine is a 1inch as anyone else come across this or is mine a different engine.
Thanks Bob

1" AF - but probably that's similar to 9/16 Whit ?? Most unusual to disturb the relief valve - unless you think it has been sticking ?

If there isn't a problem with the oil pressure Si fractum non sit, noli id reficere ( If it ain't broke, don't fix it) applies.
Put some grease on the clutch linkage including the shaft that goes through the chassis leg instead.
Or lubricate the steering rack.
There are plenty of things you can do to maintain and improve the car before the oil Pressure relief valve needs any attention.

Not this year, but I have done them.
There are loads of little jobs like these that can be done but won't get done even if the car has been serviced in a garage.
And I've cursed myself for doing things "because they were there" and breaking something or skinning my knuckles.

Not a major issue on an A Series engine - some engines are prone to relief valves sticking and giving problems but not Minors.... I would only strip, clean, replace if I was troubleshooting and wanting to eliminate it from the enquiries.

OK not done anything to it but just noticed the size of the nut
