Preparation!

I'm in the process of sanding down my rim in readiness for a couple of coats of primer. I've noticed on a couple of the wheels that there is quite a lot of rust and pitting inside the rim - where the tyre will sit. How good does this have to be - I'm currently using a stiff wire brush to get it as good as I can. Does it have to be completely smooth without any lumps??
Any advice welcome. Thanks
Ani
............and I thought tiling my kitchen was boring!

hi
where the tyre wall sitd on the edge of the wheel rim, needs to be good, no lumps of rust etc
ideal to have it smooth
try and pick the wheels that are good in that area

have you tried using an electrolysis bath?
you can leave a wheel in there while you get on with another one?
if you start to enjoy cleaning your wheels you can always come to my place and do my new wheels as well

Needs to be relatively clean - but not perfect. A wire brush in leccy drill makes the job much easier. The tyres will seal ok. More troublesome could be any serious corrosion at the hole for the tubeless valve. If this area is too bad to seal on the valve base - you will need to fit a tube inside the tyre.

Don't think I want to go that far ...... I think they will all be ok - I was just hoping I didn't have to get them totally back to 100% shinny new! I'll pass on cleaning up everyone elses wheels

Droping by to see you on Saturday - hope the weather stays fine
