as you know bettis in his new home I have cleaned all my workshops out and painted the floors this has changed me and the way I work as I now can,t stand it if it is untidy and as I work everything gets put back and the floor gets swept and any oil gets cleaned up. 12 years I have lived here and just used all this room as a junk shop. Tha floor is so easy to clean with it being painted just try it and you will never go back to that dusty floor again. Even put a settee {old] and a kettle coffee and biccys and some wise guy put a plant on the table of which I have started to water sad or what

Best thing to do on a concrete floor IMO.

Seals in the dust and gives a nicer feel to any garage.

Makes a helluva difference sweeping up and lying on your back when working - first job I did in my garage was a lick of paint.

Make sure you seal it though, I skimped and occasionally get wet bits when the grounds saturated.

Couldn't agree more.

It's soo easy to just hose it down, then give a quick mop over.

Makes it hard to lose things you drop through the engine bay too, coz we went for red...

(Also hides the blood from skinned knuckles) !!!

Yes a good idea however I found the biggest improvement came from painting the walls white and couldnt believe the extra light and I should have done that over 20 years ago.

Yes I did my walls white a while back (getting a bit grubby now) but never got round to painting the floor and finding space for the Morris and the Manta while the floor is drying.

Agree with all of above - that's exactly what I did to mine. Mind you, the walls are now so covered with shelves and "stuff" the effect of the white paint is dminished somewhat....

Anyone know if dilute PVA will seal a garage floor?
I'm not allowed to paint mine as I don't own it :(.

I'm fairly sure it wont get wet.
I'll give it a go when the weather improves again.

Its going to be better than nothing I'm sure. Have you actually asked whether you can paint the floor?

I belongs to the council, their rules and regulations say you shouldn't do anything at all to it :( .
I'd love to paint the walls white as it is long and narrow which means not much light gets to the inner end.

PVA glue - when it gets wet (drips from car etc if nothing else) - then you lie on it - you will STICK to it!! there are proper 'clear' concrete sealing compounds out there. Can't see the Council getting too bothered if you paint walls white - and floor say light grey colour!

Oi!, it's warm and dry, just not perfect.
The extra length gives me somewhere to store motorbikes and spares.

I'll try a section with PVA as proper 'clear' concrete sealing compounds sound expensive.
There is very little danger of getting stuck to the floor under a dripping Minor as I'm a fair weather mechanic.

Just make sure you keep your mobile handy in case you get stuck!

Will do! :)
On the rare occasions I get under the car I normally lay on a piece of cardboard or carpet anyway.

Theres an idea, why don't we just carpet the whole garage floor! (as long as you're not planning on doing any welding  )

I was lucky enough to pick up one of those industrial doormats from work the other day. It's about 4'x3' and rubber backed. The sort of thing you see just inside shops. Ideal for working on under the car.
