I have fitted a radio CD player to my car.It works well but when I speed up the sound goes.When I slow down the sound comes back.I am at a loss to know what the problem is.HELP Any ideas would be great.
How to fix it would be even GREATER!!!

Hi Liz - I'll ask the obvious question first... Does the sound really go or is it just that you cannot hear it as you go faster? If you sit in the car, engine running, and rev up does the sound stay or go? You might need a choke in the positive feed wire to the radio to eliminate interferrence....

When you go really fast in a minor ALL sound goes. When you ears start to bleed its the engines way of telling you its time to slow down.

Is this with the radio, the CD or both?

If it's both, then the next question is if it is related to road speed or engine speed...

You should check the connections to the radio carefully - and the earth from the radio to the car body. It's possible that the additional vibration is affecting the power transmission.

What's the power rating of your radio (watts/channel) and how does this match with the speakers you have? (if the impedance is too low, then it's possible that as the engive revs, the voltage rises and the power through the radio amplifier is too high for the unit. This can trigger an internal cutoff which only revocers when the voltage drops a bit).

Few more details will help.

Thats amazing! I was going to post a message myself on this subject as I have exactly the same problem in my convertible.

Fairly run of the mill Goodmans Cd player mounted under the glovebox with two shelf speakers ont he floor under the front seats (They wander about a bit but not a problem). We had this set up in the wifes 4dr saloon, (where it worked fine) but swapped it over to the convertible when the saloon was sold last year.
The problem appears to relate more to throttle opening, rather than engine speed or road speed ie: if you back off a bit the sound comes back, though at motorway speeds you might as well turn it off. Running about round home and work you can live with it but its a bit odd to say the least. If someone said it was an automatic device to cut the sound and hence any distractions when you're 'pressing on' abit its almost believable....

I'll have a good look over the connections again, but it does the 'effect' with both radio and cd on mine.

dads has massive interference, mine is peachy. can't explain it myself as he is the one who told me how to wire it in.
