Engine Conversion

Hi can anyone tell if i need to strenghten the chassis of my morris 1000 i plan to replace the A series engine with a 2000 cc ford capri engine and gearbox

If it is is good order the answer is no. A Ford 2000 engine is quite heavy though, so consider upgrading suspension and obviously the brakes.

I'd be tempted to seam weld the chassis leg-tieplates as bigger motors have quite a bit more torque. This can present problems with the spot welds on the legs breaking and a split in the floor where the steering rack mounting face meets the chassis.
For these reasons we developed the 9 piece chassis kit which eleviates these issues.

Just out of interest is the engine an inline Pinto or one of the old V4s that used to be a popular conversion?
