Hi All,

I've noted lots of discussion regarding the suitability, or not, of certain wheels. Would these wheels be suitable for a straight swap onto my '71 2 Door 1000?

They will fit, obviously, but 13's look very small in minor wheel arches. Personnal choice though at the end of the day.

Thanks, being a bit daft, apart from the rims being small, are there any other pros and cons to these wheels? With the tyres on are they the same over all size as standard wheels? Does it change any of the other characteristics of the car? speed, handling, ease of tyre replacement? speedo readings etc etc?

Can't say for sure as the aspect ratio of the tyre is not mentioned in the listing. I would guess they are 70's in which case the speedo would under read by about 5%. The tyres will also wear out quicker as they would be going round faster and you loose 1" overall wheel/tyre height.... Sorry but I can't think of any pro's except they are shiney !!!

The overall diameter of 165x13 tyres will be around 6mm larger than 145x14s, assuming both are standard profile, ie 80%. That shouldn't be a problem.

I love the chrome but it does make you think if there is salt on the road shall I take morris out supose it,s the same as alloys having said that I have chrome<br><br>

Chrome Minilite replicas (i think they call them "minators" or something like that). Came from Elite Auto's in Essex but that was years ago - don't know if they still do them now or not.

Correct but the ones on ebay are obviously not 80's cause they look too small in the arches - Hence my guess at the more common 70 profile which is an inch smaller.....

13's look very small in minor wheel arches

Not always they don't!

These are 5 1/2" x 13" with 185/70x13 tyres. 165/80x13 have virtually the identical rolling radius and both are within 1% of a 145/80x14 standard tyre.

However if you have a 175/65/13 the difference is very very noticable over standard.....

Well they certainly look smaller than yours, but yours look wider too!

What size tyres & rims are you running?

Mine are 185 70 14's

They look like good old fashioned Weller wheels the chrome version of what Dan has on the Traveller in his signature.
