Back axle and diff

Its been a while since I split the diff and axle, the time has come to put the two back together.
So, Im guessing the diff has to be correctly orienated in the axle....how do you tell, or will it only fit one way?
Also, is there a gasket between the two faces, if so what is the thickness roughly as I usually make my own gaskets from cereal box card!
Whilst on the subject of running gear and suspension, What are peoples views on Polybushes? Im planning to use a full set for front and rear suspension.

It must be right way up - the half shafts must go in ! Yes there is a gasket -cheap to buy! But cereal box will be about right thickness. Yes to Poly bushes - but don't get the super hard 'racing' bushes - get something a bit more pliable and suitable for road use.

What about the polybush kit that ESM do? Seems rather cheap compared to some kits ive seen.
Thanks,

Why not ask JLH ? Generally - you get what you pay for.

SUPERFLEX ARE NOT THAT EXPENSIVE WHEN COMPARED WITH OTHERS
I HAVE USED OTHER MAKES AND THEY A TERRIBLE FIT, AND SOME NEEDED CUTTING DOWN
NOT SO WITH SUPERFLEX

Sounds like a pretty good recommendation for Superflex then !

It should only fit one way, with the crown wheel on the left side.

Thanks BM, id forgot you'd mentioned JLH eariler.
I spose the best thing to do would be to just buy all that lot? Would I need anything else...they dont seem to do bottom trunnion bushes?

Bottom trunnion bushes - are phosphor bronze - inside the trunnion! The only Poly bush you MUST fit - is the top trunnion set, makes a huge difference. The others are optional - you decide if you think the expense is justified over standard bushes. My Minis all had poly bushes -everywhere, my Minor only has the top trunnion set. Some say poly all round makes the car 'harsh' and noisy. I'm sure many others will swear by them !

Well I might as well go Poly all round.
Would someone be kind enough to give me a list of what I need?
thanks,

I'm sure JLH will keep you right - maybe they do a 'deal' on a complete set! Ask Jonathon - tell him I sent you!!!!!!!

I seem to remember BullMotiff had a deal on a full set of polybushes a while back, might be worth asking them.
