Squeaky squeaky brakes

Hello,

I recently fitted new brake shoes and cylinders, all has been going well for about a week but now they just squeak very loudly.
It's a high pitched noise that really irritates me, and i suppose passers by.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rhys.

If they only squeel when applied you need the file a chamfer on the leading edge of each shoe.
If you are getting squeaks all the time the car is moving you might have over adjusted them or fitted the springs on the outside of the shoes rather than the inside so the edges are rubbing the drum all the time.
Take the drum off the worst one and have a look.
You should be able to see what's rubbing.

I agree - have a look inside urgently and see what's rubbing - before it snaps! If all is good - take the car out and use the brakes HARD, over and over until you can smell them - to bed them in properly.
