no it is very easy, when I did it to my car you could get the bits you need of a mini.

two nuts hold on the oil filter housing, take these of and then you can slip off the moggy oil filter housing. You then need to remove the two studs that are used to hold on the moggy oil filter housing.

Do the same on the mini, you can then screw the studs from the mini into the minor engine. You can then slip on the mini oil filter housing and off you go.

The reason you have to change the studs is that the spin on oil filter housing from the mini is a lot longer and the minor studs will not pass all the way through.

Don't forget a new housing seal ;-)

You can also purchase an adapter kit that does not require you to swap the filter head, it just screws on the bottom. Very simple to do, available from any Minor specialist and probably mini stores and anyone else that deals with A-series engine.

Nothing wrong with the original filter! Why the rush for change ?

It makes it nicer for changing the filters though and no bits to lose either.

I agree - no 'bits to lose' - but it's dead easy to change a standard filter ! Sometimes the 'screw on ' filters are a real problem to undo!

Seconded on removing the dynamo.
Makes life much easier.
Just lubricate the rubber seal on new oil filters and just tighten them up enough.
Thay don't hold the wheels on :)

It's easier just to change the filter than to fit a new type of filter....

MUCH easier - and less expense too.

I'm going spin on. I find that standard ones to be a pain in the posterior...

Agreed, Dan :D

Spin ons much easier to change, no worries about washers etc., less spillage, easier to obtain form your local motor factor and, I suspect, cheaper than a filter element.

After saying all that modern vehicles seem to be going back to the element type filter............... :-?

Well, if screw ons start getting difficult we can swap back

Thanks for all help given. I am just after one little bit. And that is the Connector that goes between the oil pipe and the filter cover. I can just get my one unscrewed.

How do you get the bolt back on the filter housing? The spring seems to make it so tight to get the thread started? Thanks Ann
