Can anyone help, I am just under 6 feet tall and my line of sight is obstructed by the top of the windscreen in my 2 door series 2. (1955 model). Is there any simple way of lowering the drivers seat any further either by modifying the adjustment lever (ie make another notch) or would later seasts be closer to the floor, although I would like to retain the original seats. I have already moved it back to it's furtherest point having had to drill extra holes for the mounting bracket. Hope someone can assist, many thanks.

you must have very high seats then william I'm 6'1" with a 55 splitscreen and I can see out no problem,in fact the series2 had a high domed roof.and I feel that my seat could do with going up.Could be that your seats have been modified to suit a smaller person,have a look at the bases to see if there has been any welding of the frame.Very strange

Thanks for the reply, I have checked the seats and they are original and quiet firm, especially since the car has only covered 20000 miles. The seating position is definately on the high side as I have to lower my sitting stance to get good visibility. Looks like more use may make the seat loose it's firmness and hope for the best, as you state that it should be ok. No problem with the roof, just the line of sight at the top of the split glass.

I guess you can be 6' with short legs and a long body, which would give you more problems than a 6' person with long legs and a short body? I'm 6' 2" and about 50/50 proportioned and don't have any problem - In fact if anything I feel I am too low also. Maybe your seats are too new to be "run in" yet?

I'm 6ft and feel quite slouched and low down in my split screen. Is your seat right back... because I think the seat lowers considerably the further back it slides.

Well I must admit I am a little intrigued by this as the complaints have always been about being to low in the seats before.

Thanks for replies.I agree with minor addict and I also have to take slouched position and not sit upright.Yes I am normal porportions and surprised nobody else of about 6'height is not comfortable if sitting correctly, as definately a small part of your top visibility is obscured. However to help ease the problem a bit I have moved away the carpet and underfelt from rear seat rail and this has given me a vauable bit more. The seat is at the lowest setting even though it is a basic type of adjuster.

something odd here,Ive actually raised the rear of my seat cos I was too low and I'm also50 50 proportioned,Mybe non standard minor seats,from A35 or something strange problem

Any chance of some photos of the seat and frame?
The only other solution I can think of, apart from cutting and re welding the frame is to fit a knackered late Minor 1000 seat, but I don't think that you will enjoy the experience.

Sorry no photos as still have old fashioned film, but all is original. Having taken back the underfelt it was quite thick, the seat is now much better and am happy enough to motor on without any mods. I appreciate all the help given, cheers everyone.

Has your minor had a roof chop?

So... I too am 6' and find the seats too low... how do you go about raising them? The obvious would be to fit some suitable wood to the floor and then bolt the seat down to that I suppose.

I welded a bar across the back of mine(Others have used wooden blocks) Ill put a photo on when I get chance.

We had a series 11 'cheese grater' and found the seat bases were more solid and don't sink down as much as the newer models.
With just their series of 'elastic bands' across the seat base for support, the newer seats, I found, lower the driving position.

Personally, I think the series 11 seats look lovely, very 1940's but along with the seat height, I didn't find them very comfortable.
