pancakes!

Hi can anyone advise on pancake airfilters?? as I did fit one to my van and I read somewhere on here that, that's actually a power loss? Thanks

Frank - you need the cone shaped ones not the flat pancake shaped ones :-)

oh thanks for the tip what exactly to look for on ebay ? don't really know the engliish term for those type of filters

Use the search words "K&N" Mine is not that make as they are expensive but it is a copy so sellers may say "K&N TYPE" Mine was £12.50 + postage

The flat face opposite to the carb intake needs to be 'at least' 1.5 times the diameter of the carb intake away from the intake face of the carb. Mini is similar (probably same) as the one shown above - not the element needs to be lightly oiled with special K & N oil from time to time - after it has been carefully washed in soapy water of course. Most 'pancake' filters are far too thin - ie the face is too close to the intake - and air flow is needlessly restricted.
