I thought I should start this thread off because we get all sorts of interesting stuff in here to work on. I will edit this post to add more as they come in.

today we had:

a mates land rover that he has just built:

Not my cup of tea but it is a v8 one with very fruity exhaust, sounded very fit.

And this:

I have just bought it. Totally perfect 1380 gt. No rot. Best bit is its got a ported big valve head thats just been built and will be knicked for my moggy. I have a spare mg head to go back on the mini.

Just bought today:

Totally solid, never welded, 3 owners and just superb everywhere. Best bit though is it was cheap.

Well I have sold the mini, it just wasn't me. But I have bought the manta that I have just added to the original post.

I love buying and selling these old cars because it stops my day to day car dealing becoming boring. Sometimes I make a profit, sometimes I don't but I just enjoy it.

To keep the moderators happy I will never mention which ones are for sale and which ones I am keeping for a while. I am NOT trying to sell them on here, just showing what I am lucky enough to come across.

No mod has ever said anything before about my car buying and selling, I am just letting them know I am playing by the rules in the spirit of things.

Thats fine as no commercialism is mentioned.

Nice Manta there - a favourite of mine, now on my 8th Manta, owned since 2001 and due back on the road in April

I like Mantas too! I'd have another if one turned up at the right time and price (ie: cheap and when I've got cash and space :) ).
May even look after it a bit more than the last one which had a hard life to say the least...

Requirement was a cheap road rally car, that was fast enough as standard so no engine work req, rear wheel drive, and not a Ford Escort as thats what most other competitiors used and we didn't want to follow the crowd...

mantas are a cool old car, no doubt.

The hatches are frowned upon a bit though.

Thing is the hatches are becoming rare now as many have been scrapped to give bits up for savable coupes.

I have been told that their are less than 100 manta gte's road legal and that more are coupes than hatches. The hatch could become rare enough to become valuable as a rarity.

Its true that the coupe is more sought after yet when they were in production the hatch tended to be more popular (I guess more practical) even though it was slightly more expensive than the coupe.

Out of my 8 Mantas owned, 6 were hatches.

Have just aded piccy to original post of this:

have just worked on a 93 morgan 1.6 4+4. YUK

Looks lovely. Difficult to get in and out (and I am not big or old). Not nice to drive, under-engineered, slow. Really didn't get it at all.

Hi,

Try working on them everyday for 10 + years............!
You kinda get used to their quirkeness after that time.

Sounds like the one you had was the silver-top Zetec version?
I don't see the point of these either.

BUT the +8's with the Rover v8 and the Roadsters with the Ford Mondeo V6 - they are a different beast all together! 8)

Cheers

Martin

Morgans have never appealed to me - I just don't get them either.
