new owner's Starter Kit?
One day into Minor ownership and already I'm sticking my hooter in! Sorry! Just had a thought which was inspired by the generosity of Mark C, Jenny's previous owner. Would it be worth the Club offering, as part of its services, a sort of Minor Owner's Starter Kit containing 'useful stuff'? What I've got here from Mark - a can of oil, a can of Waxoyl, owner's choice of touch up paint x 2 (body and grille), grease guns, air filter cartridge, some back copies of Minor Matters and a manual or two – might make a pretty decent base, though of course you guys are the experts and would know a better combination of contents than me. Nothing too complicated, technical or scary, just enough to get you going. It certainly makes me feel a lot happier to have all that gear in the shed, knowing that it's been chosen by an owner/expert and therefore 'correct' for the Minor. I'll bet someone like CeeLou might agree with me but I wouldn't want to presume that of course!

Hi CeeLou! She's unleaded already. Son and I had a fabulous day yesterday collecting Jenny from Mark C 'up north'. Weirdly, got out of bed this morn without back pain for the first time in months! Non-standard seats, and was a bit scrunched up for 200 miles but we had plenty of stops for pasties etc (which pleased son no end) and it was a brilliant trip. We used A-roads only and Jenny was in her element. The built-in 'ventilation' of the body design keeps you from feeling drowsy, combined with the heater on a little bit the result is a fabulously cosy and 'alive' travelling environment. When you find your car - and hopefully you'll know it when you see it, they seem to get you like that! – GO FOR IT. Even after one day I rank buying this car as one of the three best life choices I've made thus far. And I'm 55 this summer (groogh!).

Hi Tony,
I think I have already found my car, I am off to see Grumpy Granddad on Saturday - his beauty is listed int he 'for sale' section. If all goes to plan she will be winding her way south with me on Saturday!
I have wanted a Moggie for years after a neighbour had one when I was a kid and now at 30 yrs old I will hopefully have her.
Your drive sounds lovely - my fiance is excited although he won't get to drive her but we are looking forward to our Moggie adventures!

With my long Minor experience of 24 hours
ahem I am obviously an expert on this subject, but seriously having taken the plunge it now seems to be the most natural choice in the world. My only regret is it's taken me so long. Even on a non-emotional level it's a great choice: low running costs, no (or reverse) depreciation, surprisingly pleasurable 'modern' handling, a thoroughly engaging driving experience (laugh at the fools who take huge risks to overtake you, even when they're turning off the road in less than a mile – that's happened to me already!), the fun of keeping it in good nick, and of course the pride of ownership that you just don't get with so-called 'proper' cars.

ooo I am so excited! I love the look of the cars and the nostalgia of know she has been well loved for near on 50 years. I love the audi driving muppets that I work with thinking I am mad until they realise I don't pay road tax but more than anything I love the fact you have to DRIVE them and not let some computer decide what it's going to do!
I need to learn about the taking are of her....!

Definitely, on the basis that if I inherited a pet I wouldn't change its name. Plus Jenny's got her name written on her bum. I feel that we're entitled to give the soft dog on top of the dash a name though, he's called Diggedy. <br>

I love how she has her name on her - I might have to do the same with mine! I will check with Grumpy Grandad if she has a name, if not she will be Molly! My best friend is emigrating to Oz on Wednesday and she used to have a sunshine yellow MG Midget from the year she was born called Molly so in honour of the MG who can't go to Oz my moggie will quite probably be a molly!
Jenny looks gorgeous!!!!

She is called Jenny after Jenny Hanley of Magpie fame.My first car was a 1967 mini van which i got in 1978 when i was 19.I called her Jenny(i had a crush on ms Hanley)
