Post by stanley0070 »

My 1971 Traveller needs a new wing on the drivers side, but have never done one before, is it a job for a beginner
Thanks

yes can be done yourself

obviously get teh old one off, and then have the new one put on to check for alignment, etc, and then have it sprayed the colour you want then bolt the new wing on, and seal the inner flat wing to the new outer wing

put all wing bolts in then apply the sealer to the top of the wing and then tighten up

as frank said, the wingsmay need some modification,

sealer tool is a mastic gun, or skeleton gun

new old stock or good second hand is the best route with front wings

ask on here in wanted, sure some one will have a good second hand wing

Just spotted this post from back in 2009

I'm rebuilding my PE van at this time & now trial fitting the wings, I seem to remember a sealing strip (rubber?) which fitted between the inner & outer wing? Looking at how mine are going to fit, with what now is almost a complete new front end, I'd say that these strips would perhaps be rather a waste of time and that the most practical way of sealing the inner to outer wing gap would be a liberal amount of Gack (seam sealer that is)?
