I have just dropped in a mk3 capri rear axle into my traveller and was going to use Mondeo wheels but as you can see it is too close to the body work. I do not wish to modify the body work so it looks like i will have to use a different axle unless anyone can suggest alternative wheels that have a very high offset? they are 108 pcd by the way..

Sorry I can not recall the offset of the mondeo wheels and it is now dark, I will try and look in the morning

Thanks in advance

Try Peugeot 405 steels or 306 alloys 205 1.9GTI alloys or if you like there is a wide selection of Minilite style wheels at good prices or even Centerlines. Basically anything 108PCD with a 15mm-22mm offset. Make sure that the centre bore is correct ,Peugeot is slightly larger so a slim adapter shim will do fine.
Mondeo wheela will fit the back but not the front without some wide spacers (not good) Try also some Saab 9000 wheels and use the thin space saver as a spare.

Thanks for the advice... off to ebay to find some!

I accept that the mondeo wheels would have need thick wheel spacers up front. But if use Peugeot 405 steels will i not have the same problem i.e fit the back but will need think spacers at the front or am I missing something.

Thanks for the tip on the adaptor shim when fitting the wheels I shall knock a set up once i have the wheels.

The 405 wheels have the correct offset so no you will not need spacers.

I am now really confused, and sorry to keep ask questions..

If the 405 steel wheels have the correct offset for the front i.e. no need for spacers will this not mean they are too "wide" for the back which is the problem i have with the mondeo wheels or are they very narrow.

My mistake, misread your post and thought we were talking MK1 Capri which is almost the same as the MK2 Escort, yours will be about 4" wider than these.
Your Mondeo units are about a 35mm offset so I think you will be struggling to fit any wheel to this particular axle.
Sorry for my mistake and false hope. Best go Escort ...thats easy! :D
