Has anyone fitted an ital/marina clutch, brake, accerator pedal system to a minor. If so what's involved and is it difficult. Thanks, Terry

I have fitted one and will be doing it again..

It is fairly straight forward, you cut a hole in the bulk head and fit an adaptor box ESM sell them... maybe other companies do. This adaptor box needs to be welded to the bulk head.

There are only two problems you will have is that you will need to cut the bonnet support as it "cuts" straight through where the new master cylindar etc will sit. Having cut it you will then need to weld a U shape back in to give it back its strength or go for hydraulic props...

The only other problem is that the minor gearbox uses a cable for the clutch mechanism not a hydraulic clutch, but I believe the box can be modified to a hydraulic clutch. I would strongly recommend you confirm this before you go ahead and cut your bulk head.

One other thing to be aware of is that you need the accelerator pedal from the marina/ital.

Completely unnecessary in my view, its no better than the std Minor set up, and the bulkhead is not designed to take the forces being implied through both brake and clutch, without significant strengthening.

Thanks for the info. My minor is fitted with an ital engine and gearbox(soon to be a midget gearbox )so it already has an hydraulic clutch. I just thought that it might be easier to maintain the hydraulics, (brakes and clutch ) with the master cylinders under the bonnet rather than under the car. Thanks again, Terry

this guy has done the conversion and has a picture step by step comentary on how to do it hope this helps if your still looking to do the job. gonna do the same thing to my car and i think it looks pretty basic

The Minor gearbox certainly does NOT use a 'cable for the clutch mechanism' !!

I stand corrected.. sorry it is a long time since i have played with a standard minor but the clutch isn't hydraulic (or is it?) which was the point i was trying to make.

looks great to me mate,must be better,the bulkhead will be fine,altering the system for my sons mog soon.

Jonathon - who certainly knows what he is doing with Minors- has advised against this. Take heed of his good advice. I can see no benefit whatsoever - and it looks to be a load of work!

It is not loads of work, when compared to mounting a seperate brake servo and hydraulic clutch mechanism and plumbing them in. It also has the advantage of putting them in one place and looking very neat and maintains the space around the engine. I do take on board what Jonathon has said about the bulk head though and the ESM kit welds onto the bulk head and the main cross member that the suspension is bolted to (sorry i do not know the correct term for it). I did mine and drove it for a few years with no problems at all.
