WINDSCREEN WASHERS

I need to get my washers sorted for the MOT. At present there is no water being pumped to the windscreen jets.

I have checked the tubes for blockage, ensured the non return valve operates and there is plenty of water in the bottle. I have removed the manual pump and as it is a sealed unit it's not possible to see if it is working.

I've ordered a new pump, is this a simple case of fitting to the tubes or should I knopw more?
Image
You can test the pump off the car with a glass of water.... The washer jets block up also but you can buy replacements if they can't be cleared. Also check that the pipes are still connected to the jets but you will have to remove glovebox liners to do this....

Check the little filter in the washer bottle - it often clogs. Prick the washer jets with a pin or needle - the pump is usually ok.

You can also get someone to push the pump repeatedly while you place a finger over one jet and this will often unblock the other because of the extra pressure, I assume you have already tried blowing up the pipe so to speak and got air coming out of the jets.
