This time its for a van

This ones listed for 'MEMROBILLA ETC..... AND NOST PUPORSES' ??
seems a bit dear with a near £50 price.
Its about time e-bay did something about this like pass on details to DVLA and 'lock' the reg used. making them useless.

I noticed Watchdog did a programme last night a "grilled" an Ebay rep on selling knives. I wonder if they would be interested in this story?

Everytime I report something I comment "Another reason not to use ebay!" If we manage to spot this many former moggy V5's going up for sale, it does make you wonder what else goes unnoticed.

hello this is something that has been going on for years long before ebay, dealers and others have been cloning classics and modern since god was a lad ,as they say wher theres a will thers away stopping ebay will help but it will carry on unfortanatly even the morris you are useing may have been used at some point with miss identity,,,grandad

Looking at this whole process from the other perspective..
What if I had a Morris van with no ID?
Is it easy to apply for a new 'legal' registration?
Secondly, what if I had one that had been severely written off but safely repaired?
I wouldnt be able to re-reg this based on the laws regarding write offs no matter how good the vehicle is.
In this case my only recourse would be buying an 'illegal' ID myself and effectively ringing the vehicle. Something I'd feel no shame in doing whatsoever, in pursuit of the greater good of restoration.

Firstly, if you had a van (or any other vehicle) with no ID then it's probably been stolen. Probability is enough to land you with a criminal record for receiving stolen property (even if you can prove that you bought it). Secondly, insurance companies write off vehicles for good reason. Its less likely to happen with more valuable classics than with run of the mill cars so a write off classic would need (at the minimum, say) re-shelling. This would not invalidate the ID of the original vehicle (according to the DVLA points system) as long as sufficient donor parts from the original car are re-used. Finally, buying an illegal ID would equally leave you facing the "Judge" trying to explain why you thought it was a good idea to "ring" a car purely to avoid having it "Q" registered.
Not a risk I feel I would want to undertake for the greater good of anything !!!
