if it is 6 digits and the leters are #AS then very unlikely to be transefferable as most of those are age-related (non transferable) numbers asigned when someone sold the original number.
If the car was off the road in the 70's then it may have had the original number re-assigned to the car when it was put back on the road much later, but these will also be non transferrable.
Everything else will be transferable.

There are many non transferable numbers - not just those with ?AS in them. The only way to know is to either phone and ask DVLA (in leiu of log book arriving) or wait until log book (V5) arrives and it will say at the bottom of the cover page "Non Transferable" if it cannot be. If it does not say these words then the number is transferable.

Most of the "assigned" numbers were from areas which didn't register many cars and use up their allocation so if it's a Scottish or Welsh reg (for example) from a remote region it would be reassigned after a transfer and would then be non transferable....

No not all replacement plates are non-transferable, my car is on it's third plate as the previous two were both sold on and transfered.
Does anyone know what actually qualifies a plate to be non-transferable or not?

Both of those look like original type registrations, rather than a reissued age related plate, so unless they've been retained as non transferable, Ie: the car has been off the road for many years and the original reg has been applied to be kept and aallocated as non transferable, in which case it would state this on the V5c they will be trasnsferable.mckenzie wrote:the plate is wae 403 and also have odg ###

What should be non transferrable =Does anyone know what actually qualifies a plate to be non-transferable or not?
However i've heard a few cases where the age related plate has been transferred - I'd guess it's just a mstake from DVLA where the 'non-transferrable' flag has been missed off the records.age-related (non transferable) numbers asigned when someone sold the original number.
