Can anyone recommend a repairer in central Scotland who has experience with Minors? Glasgow area prefferably I am looking to get the sills of a traveller replaced. Would anyone know what it might cost?

McFaddens in motherwell.
They mainly do MG's but have done a number of moggies.
I don't think it will be cheap though.
It starts with just sills but it has a knock on effect.

Yes - I'm afraid McF are known to be very expensive. Probably best to look around for small local garage - sorry, I don't know of any - never let a garage do any work on my cars !

I dont know if I'm allowed to post a garage name but here goes! try "Bonjedward Garage" (01835-863307). Not exactly central Scotland more "Borders" but would be worth you travelling if your car is still on the road. I have no connection with this garage other than have had work done on many of my vehicles and been very happy, both with quality and costs. Its only a small place with a staff of 4! an "old fashioned" type of garage where you actually speak to the guy who works on your car! I've seen everything from minors, mgb's and old fords to the latest bmw, range rover and mercedes in there! They have just spent 2wks solid, welding my friends MGB roadster! the cost? well lets just say he got change out of £500!!

I saw the invoice! "Repairs to MGB bodyshell" = £......
No costings of Hrs - materials used etc! Even on my invoices they dont have an hourly rate.

Not doubting your word at all, and only did a quick sum on this basis :-
'They have just spent 2wks solid, welding my friends MGB roadster! the cost? well lets just say he got change out of £500!!'
All power to them if they are good and can make a living at this.

Maybe they take on 'fill-in' jobs when not otherwise busy. I quite often pass my local small garage (where they do my MOTs - but nothing else for me!) - and they have no cars in and are standing about doing nothing. Can't understand how that can pay! If it was mine - I would have a couple of 'classics' in the background to be worked on when nothing more pressing to do!

Just out of interest Jonathon, how much would you charge? (just approx)

Couldn't say without seeing the vehicle in the flesh or pics, as these sort of repairs often tend to present themselves as the tip of the iceburg.
Hourly rate is £35 plus Vat though, and we are not millionaires.

I see there was a good-going Fire in a 'garage services' place in Orbiston St - so bad it closed the West Coast railway line ! Hope it wasn't McFaddens!!
