Hello,

Does anyone out there have the larger capacity tank that is available? It's cheaper than the original size, it would seem, so I was wondering if there's any disadvantages?

Does it hang lower beneath the car to give the extra capacity?
If it does does anyone find it an issue, appearance wise or clearance wise?
and what happens to the fuel gauge readings?

Any opinions appreciated.

You might want to check if it has a higher top that prevents you fitting the spare wheel under the boot floor.

Indeed I think that is the problem - another thread refers . Surely no need for a larger tank - plenty of petrol stations around!

And a Moggy is good on fuel so that small tank will take you a long way!

There is a large 9 and a 1/2 gallon tank available, but we are trying to set up production again, due to the previous manufacturer going out of business. They are available for both saloons and commercials with or with out a swirl pot ( normally only for EFI engines)
The tank is slightly deeper than standard and the top is higher which will require the load bay to be raised if you wish to retain the original or larger wheel and tyre.
The benefits of these tanks are mainly for modded cars, (big engines) and the fact that they are significantly cheaper than the std Minor one.

And for those who get fed up with filling up the tank every couple of days
I think you will need to adjust the fuel sender to reflect the extra deepness of the tank. I forgot to do this and mine reads empty when there is still a couple of gallons left.
Still nice to have a bit in reserve....
My one didn't have any baffles inside but this hasn't proved a problem with fuel sloshing about.
I don't know about the saloon version but there was no height problem in the van.

Yes, the larger tanks are fine in the van (and presumably the pickup too) because the spare wheel doesn't live in the gap between the tank and the floor.

Unfortunately we seem to be banging our heads against the wall trying to have these tanks manufactured. As soon as they become available I'll let you know. We have an order for just under 100 tanks so you would imagine that they would be interested

100 miles a day at the moment.....
